2025 Bilateral Budget Discussion

 

The Ministry of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, with other stakeholders, CSOs, and MDAs, has commenced the Fiscal Year 2025 Bilateral Budget Discussion at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning.

The Discussion was preceded by the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, who also doubled as the Chairman of the Bilateral Budget Discussion held on Tuesday, 17th September 2024, The Permanent Secretary, Alh. Umar B. Bello outlined government priorities in line with the Big Five Agenda, with Agriculture and Education at the top, aimed at transforming the lives of Tarabans.

According to him, the goal for this bilateral discussion is to seek out areas of common interest that we can advance together.

The Permanent Secretary further mentioned that the budget is driven by policies of the government, which in turn would be translated into programs that sector ministries have to implement and cost.

He stated that the role of stakeholders in the budget process is to sit every year and dialogue on the policies and reform agenda that will foster the state’s economic growth.

Bello advises all MDAs to support the Ministry in raising revenue in Budget processes and assuring that the Ministry has carried out Stakeholders engagements and consultations in the three senatorial zones.

In His Goodwill message, The Permanent Secretary of Finance, Mr. Douglas Kisaba, highlighted the gains made in the first year of the government under the human capital Development Agenda in areas like education, health, Etc.

Mr. Kisaba, therefore, enjoined all ministries, departments, and agencies to make adequate preparations for the annual bilateral discussion on their personnel costs.

The bilateral discussion will continue until 27th September 2024. Where MDAs are expected to present their work plan and budget for 2025 in the presence of non-state actors, Civil Society Organizations, and other partners.
